Achieving quality of life icn future planning

Achieving quality of life is fundamentally important. How can someone achieve quality of life when they have been injured severely and are now either paralysed or brain damaged, or both? If it is recognised by all concerned that life probably will be different in future, it may then be possible to approach quality of life with more optimism.

Many injured people and their families go on to cope well with disability and handicap. Patients show extraordinary fortitude and bravery, and families rally round with compassion, putting aside their own interests in the care of the injured person.

The notion of quality of life should pervade every aspect of future life planning so that whichever aspect of life is being considered, it should be governed by insistence on the best quality of life which is sensible and reasonable in the circumstances.
